The Story Behind the Coach
From Anxiety to Authenticity
Marcus wasn’t always confident on stage. In fact, he wasn’t confident at all. When he started in corporate communications at a multinational firm in 2010, public speaking terrified him — palms sweating, voice shaking, the whole deal. He’d prepare extensively for meetings, but as soon as he had to present in front of colleagues, he’d freeze.
That’s when a mentor suggested he join Toastmasters International. It wasn’t a magic fix, but it was structured. Every week, he’d give speeches in a supportive environment. People gave him honest feedback. He messed up. He tried again. And slowly, something shifted. It wasn’t that the anxiety disappeared — it’s that he learned to work with it, to channel it into energy.
By 2015, Marcus realized his real passion wasn’t in corporate communications strategy — it was in helping others find that same breakthrough moment. He pursued his coaching credentials through the International Coach Federation and hasn’t looked back since.
